From I CAN’T To I CAN (Part 4 of 4)

We can change our attitude from I CAN’T to I CAN! Do not forget to read the previous parts of the article:

Will you think of some opportunity or possibility in your life right now that would require you to bring a can-do attitude? An attitude of assumed confidence rather than presumed incompetence?

For at least next week I encourage you to be on the lookout for signs of your inner “can’t” voice.

When you hear that voice whispering all the reasons why you can’t do something, begin to consciously and intentionally shift your focus to the much softer “can” voice.

Shift your perception from can’t to can, from fear to fun, from no to yes.

The Beginner’s Mind

In Buddhism there is a term, Beginner’s Mind that encourages practitioners to bring an empty mind, free of any preconceptions, to each new experience they encounter.

Bar the possibility of attaining that level of emptiness. I want to encourage you to cultivate and nurture an attitude and perception of optimism.

Take a moment, right now. Imagine how different your life if you approach it with a different attitude.

“I Can” instead of an attitude of “I Can’t” or even “I may be able to.”

Just imagine

Imagine that, like those little kids being guided down the slope by a nurturing, supportive ski instructor. You had been blessed with a “life instructor.”

The instructor who instilled in you the truth, the feeling, the knowledge that anything you want to do, you can!

How would that feel? How would that change the way you approach your life? If you knew that you could not fail, what project would you take on?

If you knew that you could only succeed at whatever you attempted, how would your life be different?

Once you decided what you want to achieve from your hypnotic session, write a few affirmations that reflect your desires. Make sure you word these statements in the first persona and also in the third person.

Do that as though you were talking to someone else with your name. For example if you wish to develop more confidence you would write “I grow more confident every day” and “[state your name] you grow more confident everyday”.

Also form a mental picture of what that new confident you looks like

Imagine how you will feel when you have that new found confidence. Exactly how does that “other” you walk with confidence? How does that “you” talk with confidence and the “other you” react to everyday life, stressful situations and other people?

How does that confident you think, dress and what is their approach life? This picture is very important. During trance you will picture that confident you standing before you and bring it to life in your mind’s eye.

Then you will step into this confident you and actually become that person. Afterwards you should recite your affirmations while thinking. Feeling and imagining you walk, talk, dress and approach life as this confident “other” you!

This form of self-hypnosis incorporates NLP and is used to directly program your subconscious. It will help you create that confident you in the real world. The affirmations act as post-hypnotic suggestions which reinforce the NLP work.

It also ensure your subconscious mind holds the correct “self-talk” that you are constantly involved in during the day. This inner dialogue can make or break a person and it is important to program your mind with positive messages.

To create a state of trance in order to perform these mental sequences is quite easy

First find a quiet restful place where you will not be disturbed…

Keep an Open Heart

Express deep gratitude for your life, and all of the experiences you have – even the not so pleasant ones. Be willing to be vulnerable in your connections with others, and allow yourself to feel.

Too often we are afraid of our emotions and try to numb them or run away from them. Instead, let your emotions be your teachers. Listen to them, and honor them. They will teach you a lot about yourself.

Look for the Lesson

In every experience, ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?” Sometimes the lesson is obvious, and sometimes you’ll have to search for it. With every lesson, allow it to become a part of you and make you a better, stronger, happier person.

Though we all make mistakes and stumble, the goal is to make new mistakes. It is better than repeating the same ones over and over again. As long as we are making progress, we’re doing great! Use your own awareness to overcome challenges and keep moving forward.

Enjoy the Journey

Most of us take life so seriously! Yes, it does have its serious moments. Overall this is supposed to be a pleasant experience, and we can make it that way by simply choosing to.

Don’t worry so much about whether you’re making as much progress as you should. Don’t get frustrated when things don’t always work out as planned. Instead take a lighter attitude and understand that it’s all just a journey. The point is to relax and enjoy.

Imagine and focus

Imagine that you’re a beautiful white sponge, and you come across these brilliant pools of colored liquid. There’s a red pool of passion, a pink pool of love, a yellow pool of knowledge, a green pool of gratitude, and a purple pool of fun.

Go ahead and dip your sponge toe into each of these pools, and your color will begin to change. Rather than being a plain white sponge, you are now a beautiful, multi-colored sponge, filled with passion, love, knowledge, gratitude, and fun.

Unfortunately, there are also a few pools of black, brackish stuff like negative self-talk, fear, regrets, etc. If you accidentally absorb some of this and it begins to taint your colors, don’t worry about it too much.

Just focus on revisiting the pretty, colorful pools and absorbing more good stuff. It will dilute the negative stuff, and eventually get rid of it all together.

Attitude of gratitude

This is why it is important to hold on to an attitude of gratitude for the things you already have. You can even be grateful for where you are in life right now, no matter how bad it is. That is the launching platform for your new improved life. Start from where you are. Wherever you are in life it is the right place for you right now. Just be satisfied to begin from where you are and you will soon get to where you want to go.

The future

Once you have identified those things in life you wish to have, begin to think of them often. Imagine that you are already in possession of them. This is you becoming at one with your desire. Once you can hold your desire in mind and see, feel and accept that you are in possession of it you have become your future vision.

This is being your desire. Look at children they are excellent at this. It is a natural state of mind and not as hard to achieve as you may imagine. Just allow yourself to do it. Have fun and play with your internal vision. Enjoy it!

Be flexible enough to allow the universe to deliver these things to you as it sees fit. However, you need to take action. The Bible tells us that, “faith without works is dead”, James 2:14-26.

Be ready to take some steps towards your goal. No matter how small or insignificant these steps are taken at least some action every day that will bring you closer to your desires.

You will soon find that as you take even small steps towards your desires and stay true to your inner vision the universe will rush to meet you. Coincidences will occur and you will find opportunities are presented to you. As long as you are generating positive emotions around your internal vision, your actions will be a pleasure and feel natural.

So remember, be what you desire, then do what you have to in order to bring you closer to those desires and then you will have everything you want!

Your Powerful Imagination (Part 2 of 2)

Please read the first part.

Continuation:

Okay, ready for the test? Gather all of your strength and “willpower.” Be sure NOT to do the following. Here it comes … DON’T think of a red fire truck!!

What happened?

You automatically thought of a red fire truck, right? This is because when the “will” and the “imagination” are in conflict, the imagination always wins. Most people spend a great deal of time telling themselves what they DON’T want, instead of what they DO want.

Even with every ounce of willpower they can muster, they somehow end up with more of the same old thing. That’s because the mind works in pictures, not words.

Imagination is the secret ingredient of life. If people imagine themselves “rich,” regardless of the amount of money they have, chances are they will be healthy and strong and live an abundant life.

If a rich man imagines himself poor or on the brink of losing his fortune, it is likely that trouble and sickness will plague him to the grave.

All that we are searching for in life is already present within ourselves. The sooner we come to believe in the power of our own imagination, the easier our lives will become. I challenge you to stretch your mind to the possibility of accomplishment beyond your present aspirations.

What if, in an attempt to reach your goals, you awakened the powerful latent genius within? How would you feel if you found the cure for AIDS or cancer? Think of the people who would benefit from your achievement.

The reality is that until everyone on the planet imagines a world of health and vitality for all, there will always be disease and woe. Take charge of your life now. Imagine your way to health and happiness and it will be so.
